Join the German GeZero team to lead the realization of a full-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) solution in Germany.

The aim of the GeZero (Geseke Zero Emissions) project is to demonstrate the first full-chain, full-scale CCS project in Germany (from source to sink) at Heidelberg Materials’ cement plant in Geseke. For this first-of-its-kind project we are seeking to recruit a Project Director (f/m/d).

You will report solid to the General Manager Germany and dotted to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Heidelberg Materials AG. You can be based in Geseke or Heidelberg but should be committed to visit the Geseke plant on a regular basis.

Your next challenge

As the GeZero Project Director, you will lead and be accountable for all project concerns related to technical, non-technical and project interfaces:

• Full ownership of all project aspects and results from its existing position to the Final Investment Decision through to full commissioning
• Define the project’s key objectives and be the central point of reception for all necessary inputs from the project organization
• Monitor and coordinate all key project activities to avoid variances to the project schedule, budget or expected project deliverables
• Build and retain a strong liaison with external and internal stakeholders
• Communicate effectively to the Project SteCo
• Lead multiple subprojects (Technical Workstream and the Non-Technical-Workstream) in negotiations towards supplier, partners for logistic & infrastructure of CO2, and work closely with the Stakeholder & Communication team for this project
• Ensure that design and quality are in line with HM Standards and Guidelines
• Promote the project towards external audiences

Your profile

• Proven project management skills with successful experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
• High achiever track record in either technical/operational or in a functional role with large programs to manage
• Strong change management skills, an ability to thrive in an environment of change
• Excellent communication and visionary leadership skills with the ability to handle multiple workstreams and external stakeholders effectively
• A pragmatic, common-sense and down to earth ‘roll up your sleeves’ style
